Balam Consultores visits the ESRI Conference 2013

The 2nd and 3rd of October took place in the IFEMA of Madrid the Conference ESRI Spain 2013. These conferences are an obligated meeting for all those professionals that work with Geographic Information Systems.

ESRI is the acronym of Environmental Systems Research Institute, a company funded in 1969 and specialized in the creation of software based on Geographic Information Systems. Its more powerful software is ArcGIS, which has been one of the more capable programs in the market for years.

This year, the conferences have dealt about very important topics for the urbanism field, such as Land Management, Local Administration, Environment and Agriculture, Water systems… all of them with great interest because they showed the last advances in SIG of each sector.

Moreover, technical sessions were also provided by professionals of the ESRI Company. These sessions presented the features of some ArcGIS tools, work and use of the platform in the cloud or the applications development.
We all enjoyed these two days beside other professionals of the sector and entrepreneurs, who see in the Spanish GIS technology a new opportunity for the present and the future.

All present highlighted the following points:

• The quick evolution of the platforms for the Local Administration, which is the reason why even more Municipal Corporations definitely bet for the SIG.
• The ramification of the software, stimulating that so diverse sectors such as Marine Environment, Education or Security and Emergencies significantly improve their management of the information, analysis and decision making.
• The geolocalization is becoming a key step for businesses due to companies have understood his true potential. Nowadays, any company can arrange professionals who analyze his surroundings, extract conclusions about the business possibilities and the influence of his competitors.
